New regiment John Roy stuart

New Regiment completed  John Roy Stuarts Edinburgh regiment

A very Interesting Jacobite Regiment Raised by the Gaelic poet soldier John Roy Stuart in Edinburgh classed as a lowland regiment it contained some higlanders and British Army deserters it stood in the front line at culloden next to  the Appin Stuarts the regiment carried two stardards A white silk colour with the stuart arms and God save The King inscribed on it this colour is sometimes atributed to Lord kilmarnocks Foot guards it must have belonged to John roy stuarts as lord kilmarnocks foot guards were posted at the rear Of the army and did not engage the Government army during the battle .the second standard carried was the Green banner of kincardine which was green silk with a pair of Highland pistols  etheir side of a Scotish Targe with the lord is my Targe inscribed in a scroll underneath the Targe
